Can you believe this is our country on the news? What is wrong with these people? They are paid by benefits to sit on their arses all day, which they do as they have no skills, their parents have no control so they do as they like, so what is their beef? I think that they need black and white rules just like horses do. This gives security and respect. This is known as submission in our world. When I was a child we spent time with the family and had days out, picnics, family meals and went to local social events. We made our own entertainment, we had dens and clubs, we went on adventures and lived life through our imagination. Ok I wasn't brought up in Brixton but many of the families in our community were poor. This did not mean that they went on the rampage at night to steal from others that had more. Pride was a strong trait in those days. Dogged determination helped people to find work or better themselves. We have become too liberal and have a leader that has no idea! Time to vote with our feet at next election. Think about a party that is pro Britain and vote UKIP. These guys don't get much media coverage because the BBC is corrupt and knows that UKIP are becoming a danger to the other 3 parties. I will be voting for a party that will close its borders, removes us from the EU and the rule of Brussels, bans human rights and has a police force that is not afraid to enforce the law.
How awful to have these pictures flashed across the world when we are holding the Olympics next year! I fear for all our athletes and especially the horses.
Rant over and back to dressage! Many think that submission means obedience but a horse can be obedient with out submission. For me submission is a giving up of resistance throughout the body. The horse gives his back, is loose and supple and has an air of softness about his frame, he goes from the slightest aid and comes back in the same way.
This comes from the day to day training and improving the lightness of the aids and the receptiveness of the horse. Its no good going on a forum and asking for the magic potion for submissiveness. You can't buy it in the shops and no amount of bling is going to help it. Patent Konigs and Pikeur breeches will not add to it and neither will pink fluorescent bandages all though your horse may shrink away in embarassment. Buying a clicker and teaching your horse to fetch his bucket may be entertaining but will have little effect on way of going, the same goes for leading him around with a 6 foot lead rope and a carrot stick. Instead concentrate your efforts on using the inside of your ankle bone to ask for a give in the body and a lowering of the neck, squeezing rhythmically with the outside rein and when he gives give the inside rein. This is the start of submission but don't take my word for it, find a good trainer who understands that you are there to learn not to find a quick fix! Quick fixes lead to unrest, uncertainty and rebellion! Just look at London....
